Total Cost Over Years

Have you noticed how your energy bills have increased over the years?

In 2025, electricity costs are UP, solar panels are more efficient and the cost to go solar has gone DOWN.

Here are a few reasons why 2025 is the best year to go solar:

Net Metering

Net metering is a billing system designed to benefit solar energy owners by providing credits for any surplus solar energy they send back to the grid.

Imagine enjoying the energy you generate on sunny summer days while using those credits to power your home during the winter months or any time your system produces less energy than you need.

With net metering, every kilowatt-hour of excess energy you contribute to the grid earns you valuable credits. These credits not only offset your electric costs, but also cover both delivery and supply charges for each kilowatt-hour.

30% Federal Tax Credit

Take advantage of a generous tax credit that allows you to claim 30 percent of your system’s cost, helping you lower your federal income tax return for the year. For instance, if your system costs $20,000, you could receive a tax credit of $6,000. Keep in mind that this tax credit may disappear after 2025 if the Senate decides to discontinue it!

Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs)

Some states have SREC programs! A SREC is a financial incentive that helps homeowners earn money from the sale of extra energy produced by their rooftop panels. They can earn 1 SREC for every 1 MWh or 1000 kWH of electricity their solar system generates.

For example, if a homeowner in Pennsylvania has a system that generates 6 MWh (6,000 kWh) in a year and SRECs in that state sell for around $31, they could earn 6x $31= $186 per year!

Increase Your Home Value

While this will vary depending on the local real estate market, utility costs and the size of a system, the typical home with solar sells for 3-4% more according to studies done by organizations like Zillow, and another study by NREL.

So if you end up selling your home in the future, you’ll still benefit from your solar panels!

Other Local Incentives

Incentives vary by state, and sometimes, even municipalities have incentives! For example, in Maryland, there is a sales tax exemption on solar. Check with your municipality and local utility to see if there are any additional incentives such as:

  • Property tax exemptions
  • Low income energy efficiency incentives
  • Municipal rebates for solar, electric vehicles, main panel upgrades or batteries
  • Utility rebates

Equipment Warranties

Warranties for panels typically cover 25 years and come with power performance warranties! Inverters come with 15-25 year warranties, and our installers guarantee their work and provide roof penetration warranties of 5-10 years.

If you choose a lease agreement versus a purchase agreement, everything is guaranteed for the lifetime of the 25 year lease, including maintenance, insurance and performance (at the cost of lower lifetime savings).

Solar Financing Options

Cash Payment

By paying cash, you avoid interest or leasing fees and you are entitled to the incentives, which gives you the best return on investment.

Financing (Solar Loan)

Like buying a car or a house, most folks get a loan for their solar system! Stabilize your energy cost with a loan that does not increase over time, or pay it off early with the additional incentives as they come in.

Leasing

With a lease, you start saving right away and your system is fully insured, warrantied and maintained by the owner over the term of the agreement.
